The aim of the project was to expand the client’s production and storage capacity by extending the existing storage and operational facilities with:
Extension and upgrade of the existing Battery Bay for forklifts and other equipment, with an approximate area of 114m2,
The addition of another storage warehouse of approximately 4500 m2 complete with 4 dock leveler loading bays,
The addition of approximately 9000m2 of external reinforced concrete hardstand for storage of pallets and crates,
New primary asphalt and secondary reinforced concrete access roads for truck deliveries and collections,
A 14 000 m2 truck holding yard with ablution and recreational facilities for the truck drivers,
A new gatehouse and weighbridge facility for the access control of the deliveries and collections.
An additional 4300m2 of reinforced concrete hardstand, complete with cantilever steel canopy and 5 new delivery bays.
The brewery site is located in Klipriver, to the south of Johannesburg, which is located on a medium to high risk dolomitic area and therefore special design precautions had to be taken in accordance with the SANS code.
