The aim of the project was to expand the client’s cider production capacity by extending the existing cider facilities with:
New cider base tanks (CBT) supported on an 800mm thick concrete raft, with an approximate area of 154m2,
New double-story flavoring plant with cold storage facilities, an extension of the existing brick structure, a total area of 95 m2 all supported on a concrete raft,
2 New dissolved sugar tanks (DST) supported on a 400mm thick concrete raft, area of 45m²,
New cold and dry storage brick buildings supported on a raft with steel roof trusses, a total area of 233m²,
New yeast propagation plant (YPP) structural steel warehouse with 400mm raft, area of approximately 758m² and building height of 10,5m,
Extension to existing bright beer tanks (BBT) steel structure supported on an 800mm concrete raft with an area of 474m², structure height 22m tying in with the existing structure.
The brewery site is located in Klipriver, to the south of Johannesburg, which is located on a medium to high-risk dolomitic area and therefore special design precautions had to be taken in accordance with the SANS code.
